Cheerio Brisbane!

This is it! We are sitting at the gate waiting to board our flight. Let the journey begin!!!

What a stressful and emotional day we've had. We had a last minute scramble with too much "in flight" baggage at check-in. Our suitcases were a battle to the bitter end. We just scraped in without having to pay any excess.

I didn't think saying goodbye would be this hard either. There have been lots and lots of tears! Especially after reading two very lovely letters. We really appreciate all the words of encouragement.

I think I've got it all out of my system and I'm ready more than ever for this journey to begin.

To all our friends and family - we will miss you incredibly and think of you often. Please stay safe and know that we are only a Skype away.

One word...exhausted!

S and I have just spent the last few days packing, moving out and cleaning the unit from top to bottom.  Boy was it hard work.  We are utterly exhausted.

Moving house is hard on a normal day....but when you have to really organise your life, throw away things that you wont want in a few years and box it so that it will be safe until you return, it is even harder.  The last two weeks have been a very draining experience.  It has also been very cathartic...I finally feel like our lives are organised and free from clutter.

Amongst packing up the unit, we have also been trying to pack our suitcases.  My suitcase is a whopping 10kg over the allowable baggage allowance. I am either going to have to ditch a third of it or ship some over to the UK.  I told S that I was just going to throw it out, not take a suitcase and start from scratch in London.  I do love to shop!

Tomorrow marks the start of our "proper" goodbyes.  We are looking forward to spending the next few days with our family and making the most of our four short days left in Australia.  Woohoo.

Goodbye Drinks at Claret House

Last Sunday we shared a lovely afternoon with our closest friends for some going away drinks at Claret House Wine Bar.

The setting was perfect, the wine was beautiful and the cheese was delicious.

Thank you to all of our wonderful friends who made the afternoon so enjoyable.  We won't be seeing a lot of you before we leave so until we see you again, take care, don't forget to Skype and au revoir.

We do hope that a lot of you will come to visit us in the UK.  E loves playing tour guide and promises to show you all the most magical spots in London.

A Few Thoughts

I am now well and truly into my first week of unemployment and I'm loving it.

I have spent the past few days winding down.  However, the years of recording my time and having to be super efficient haven't left me just yet.  I realised today that I don't need to get everything done in one day!  I totally overdid it on Monday.

S has 2 days left of work.  I can't wait until he finishes because it doesn't quite feel real yet.

I thought that at this point in time I would be feeling super stressed.  Especially since my middle name is "Stress-A Lot".  I'm actually not feeling stressed at all.  I am feeling surprisingly calm and best of all - free as a bird.  Not even the thought of being unemployed is freaking me out right now.  I am so excited for what is just around the corner.

I definitely think we are ready!  I know just need to find the motivation to finish packing my suitcase.

Sneak Peak

This is exactly what S and I are getting ready for!  The first destination on our journey is France (after a few days in Kuala Lumpur and London of course).

First we will be going to Lyon to gorge on escargot, cheese, wine, macaroons and croissants.  Lyon is known as the gastronomical capital of France.  Exactly what my heavens are made of.

Our second stop is a little town called Beaune.  It is in the heart of the Burgundy wine region.  I suspect our days here will be filled with bike rides, stopping at vineyards and Chateau to sample wine and cheese.  Beaune is near Dijon - the place where Dijon mustard is made.

Le sigh - I cannot wait.
